Accessibility statement
Financial education is only useful if everyone can reach it. FFREEDOM aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, in line with the spirit of the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act and South Africa’s commitments under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Section 01
What we have built in
Semantic structure
Every page uses one main landmark, a single H1 and a logical heading order so screen readers can navigate by structure.
Keyboard operability
All navigation, filters, forms and the mobile sidebar can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and focus is visible throughout.
Colour and contrast
Body and interface text is tested against a 4.5:1 contrast ratio, and colour is never the only way we convey meaning.
Text alternatives
Article imagery carries descriptive alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
Touch targets
Interactive controls are sized for comfortable use on small screens, with generous spacing between them.
Motion
The homepage hero fades rather than slides, and no content flashes more than three times per second.
Section 02
Known limitations
- Some older article images published before this statement may have shorter alternative text than we would like. We are working through the archive.
- Third-party advertising creative supplied by partners is reviewed but not always fully under our control.
- Downloadable PDF brand assets are visual by nature; a text description of each asset is provided on the branding page.
Section 03
Tell us where we fall short
If any part of this publication is difficult to use with a screen reader, magnification, keyboard-only navigation or any assistive technology, please tell us. Use the website issue form and select “Accessibility issue”, or reach us through the contact page. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five working days and will offer the content in an alternative format while we fix the underlying barrier.
